Energy surrounds man everywhere; modern civilization cannot exist without its artificial sources. It is mined in various ways - hydroelectric power plants, nuclear and thermal facilities. Also today, more environmentally friendly areas are actively developing, wind and solar power plants are being built. Solar energy and compact absorption screens, accumulation batteries, allow each person to have their own small station, providing the house with natural energy, but so far this equipment is expensive.
Energy is being researched, scientists are providing the public with ever new facts, research is really important. After all, human needs in this direction only grow every year.
Modern rates of energy consumption
Energy consumption in most countries is very high, although not all of the resource is completely directed to useful purposes. So, the phone charging left in the socket will consume electricity in small volumes even if the device is not connected to it. The same applies to other household appliances that consume electricity even when idle, if it continues to be connected to the network. And an ordinary lamp spends only 10 percent of the energy consumed to produce light, the rest of the resource goes to heat it.That is why fluorescent lamps are so popular today, which consume 80 percent less electricity and show the ability to serve 12 times longer. In addition, it is worth noting other facts regarding energy consumption.
- In the USA, refrigerators alone consume as much electricity as is delivered by 25 large power plants over the same period of time,
- Scientists say that by 2030, humanity will need 55 percent more energy,
- 5000 years ago, a person used about 12,000 kilocalories per day per day. By the 15th century, this figure had grown to 26,000 kilocalories, and closer to the third quarter of the 19th century - already 77,000 kilocalories. In 1975, a person in a developed country already needed 230,000 kilocalories per day,
- Google data center used in 2010 260 million megawatts of electricity - this would be enough for a year to 200 thousand homes. Overall, Google uses 0.01 percent of the world's total electricity annually.
Power generation
Humanity is forced to increase the amount of energy produced every year to meet the growing needs of the population and corporations. For this purpose, minerals are massively mined, new types of power plants are being built, and in addition, new developments are being actively introduced. The direction of environmentally friendly production of energy from renewable sources is developing especially rapidly. After all, scientists have found that solar energy can cover the needs of mankind completely, while its production will not create environmental problems. It is worth citing other facts regarding energy production in modern conditions.
- Today, three quarters of the world's electricity is produced by burning fossils,
- The United States receives half the energy from burning coal, while China is even more dependent on this type of mineral, receiving in this way three quarters of the energy. South Africa, Poland, Australia use coal to extract almost one hundred percent of the necessary energy,
- Fossils are not evenly distributed in the world, up to 2 3 of oil is extracted by only a dozen countries. The leader in this regard is Saudi Arabia,
- Gas is also produced at 2/3 by only ten countries,
- 2/3 of the world's nuclear energy production is in the USA.
As a summary, it is worth saying that energy does not disappear when it is consumed, it simply transforms. The needs of mankind are growing, its consumption is increasing, which is noticeable with the naked eye - because today every progressive citizen has several gadgets, the number of household appliances is also growing. But in the transition to more advanced and environmentally friendly production technologies, everyone will have plenty of electricity. So far this problem has been solved.
